Day by day

Daily course itinerary

  1. Day 1

Arrive in Kashmir, get your gear, and settle in

Meet our driver at Srinagar Airport and enjoy a scenic drive up to Gulmarg. Check into Hotel Global and settle in. Then head to our equipment center, where our techs fit your boots, board or skis, helmet, and waterproof suit to your size.

Attend a quick orientation, covering mountain safety, slope rules, and how your gear works. Enjoy your first dinner at the hotel and get a good night's rest.

  2. Day 2

First steps on snow and finding your balance

    • 9:45 AM: Morning pickup from your hotel to base slopes.

    • 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM: Your first full day on snow:

      • Skiers: Learn to walk in boots, balance on skis, glide down gentle slopes, and use the snowplow wedge to slow down and stop whenever you want.
      • Snowboarders: Practice one-foot skating, figure out your balance, and learn heel-side side-slipping and the falling leaf drill to control your speed.
    • Evening: Head back to the hotel, review the day's practice, and relax with some hot tea and dinner.

  3. Day 3

    Steering, edges, and first turns

    • 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM: Building control and rhythm:

      • Skiers: Move past basic stopping to make gentle, flowing left and right turns across moderate beginner slopes.
      • Snowboarders: Work through toe-edge balance, learn to side-slip facing uphill, and connect basic edge shifts across the slope.
    • Evening: Group dinner at the hotel and an evening bonfire

  4. Day 4

Moving up to longer, steeper slopes

    • 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM: Stepping out of the beginner zone:

      • Skiers: Start bringing your skis closer together to transition from snowplow into smooth parallel turns.
      • Snowboarders: Connect heel and toe edges into smooth S-turns without catching an edge.
    • Evening: Evening video analysis to improve your techniques before heading higher up the mountain.

  5. Day 5

The big day: Gondola Phase 1 (3,050m)

    • 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM: The key moment of your trip:

      • Ride the famous Gulmarg Gondola up to Phase 1 (Kongdoori at 3,050m) with your instructors.
      • Tackle the scenic 4 km alpine run, linking turns down wide mountain trails surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks.
      • Do multiple full runs to build stamina, rhythm, and confidence.
    • Evening: Celebrate your high-alpine run over dinner at the hotel.

  6. Day 6

Chairlifts, natural terrain, and longer descents

    • 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM: Pushing your technique further:

      • Spend the morning refining your speed on Gondola Phase 1.
      • In the afternoon, head over to the Mary's Shoulder Chairlift to try steeper terrain, natural bumps, and softer ungroomed snow.
      • Cover around 7 km of total riding throughout the day.
    • Evening: Farewell bonfire night, music, stories, and certificate presentations.

  7. Day 7

    Independent rides and airport drop-off

    • Morning: Hit your favorite slopes for an independent free-riding session to enjoy everything you've learned.

    • Afternoon: Drop off your equipment at our rental shop and head back to Srinagar Airport for your flight home.

FAQs

Answers to common questions

How does room sharing work if I’m traveling solo?

If you're coming by yourself, we'll place you with another solo traveler of the same gender in a Deluxe Twin room. If you're coming with friends or a partner, you'll share a room. If you'd prefer your own private room all week, let us know on WhatsApp, and we can arrange a single-room upgrade.

I’ve never skied or snowboarded before. Will I manage?

Yes, that's precisely who this trip is for! Most participants are first-timers. This 7-day beginner course gives you enough time to learn to balance and stop without feeling rushed. By Day 5, most students can confidently ride Gondola Phase 1.

Why aren't Gondola Phase 1 tickets included in the upfront price?

Because Gulmarg’s weather is unpredictable. You only ride Gondola Phase 1 on Days 5 and 6 once your instructor evaluates your turns on lower slopes. Rather than charging you upfront for passes that might get delayed by storm winds, our team helps you book tickets on the ground on the exact days you use them.

What do I need to pack?

Since we provide you with all outer jackets, pants, gloves, helmets, goggles, and gear, you only need to pack:

  • 2–3 sets of thermal inner base layers (tops and bottoms)
  • 3–4 pairs of thick woolen or sports socks
  • Good sunscreen and lip balm (mountain UV is strong)
  • Regular warm clothes to wear off the slopes
What time should I book my flights?
  • Arrival (Day 1): Try to land at Srinagar Airport before 2:00 PM, so we have time to drive you to your hotel in daylight and get your gear fitted before dinner.
  • Departure (Day 7): Book a return flight departing Srinagar after 3:30 PM, so you have time for morning skiing and the 2-hour cab ride to the airport.
What if storms or bad weather hit during our week?

Gulmarg base slopes stay open during normal snow days. If strong winds temporarily close the higher Gondola lift, your instructor will move your session to sheltered tree runs or lower lifts so you don't lose any training time.
